FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions - Cycling Pictures
We are often asked at events if we are going to upload images to the website. We did so for the first couple of years, but found that users were very happy to download the thumbnails with the watermark as a record of the day and put them on your websites, and the bank account remained empty.....So while we're delighted that you like the pictures, we really do need to charge for the our time, travel and investment in the site.
Some answers to your questions:
1. How do I preview my image?
We put on a 'dummy' picture of handlebars, and if you click on that it takes you to a payment option for 'preview image'. If you choose the £1.50 paypal payment, we get paid and upload an image for you to preview.
2. How long does it take to upload my preview?
It normally takes less than a day for us to get your payment, then we upload as soon as we can. If we're out at events all weekend it can take a little longer so please check back.
3. What if you don't have a picture of me?
We will refund your preview charge. We nearly always get a picture of every rider, normally more than one of those off early in a field.
4. What happens if I want to buy the picture?
When the image is uploaded, you click on the one (or ones) you want, choose the size you want and make your payment. We then send you the prints or email versions, generally within 5 working days. The cost of the preview is refunded via paypal when we get your order.
5. Can't I just download the preview image?
Strictly speaking, the image is our copyright, which is why it has a watermark. But we can't stop downloads of the images, so it's up to you! But wouldn't you rather have the proper one rather than a low resolution, grainy one with words across it?
6. Why are the pictures low resolution on the website?
The website will only take images up to a certain file size and we have a limited overall number that we can upload, so we only load those we know people want to see, and at a resolution that lets them see it well enough to choose which they want.
7. Why are the winners' pictures on there?
We like to put a few up to illustrate the day - we put up images where we have presented winners with mounted pictures as prizes, and a selection of others who have bought pictures on the day.
8. Am I best viewing and buying my pictures on the day?
Yes please! It works out cheaper, you can see the image full size and even be involved in editing the image to your requirements. It's much easier for us to sell them to you on the day, hence we make it cheaper to encourage you!
9. What if there's a queue?
We often find that we sit alone for a while and get a rush of people wanting pictures at the end when the caretaker is tutting and wanting us to leave... so please come over early and avoid the crowds! Don't be shy! If you really can't stay you can use the preview button later.
10. How do you know who I am?
You can help us by giving us good details of bike frame colour, team kit, helmet colour and your number in the event. If we're not sure we can always email you to check.
